Our Carbon Reduction Plan & Net Zero Commitment

Biodeb Group Ltd (trading as Radiant Glow Botanicals)

Biodeb Group Ltd (trading as Radiant Glow Botanicals) is fully committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 for all our United Kingdom operations.

This plan applies to the whole Biodeb Group Ltd bidding entity and is supported and adopted by both Radiant Glow Botanicals and Biodeb Consulting Ltd. Our director, a scientist with specialist expertise in organic formulation and manufacturing, provides direct oversight of our environmental strategy and emissions reduction programme.

Our Baseline Emissions (2023)

We chose 2023 as our baseline year because it represents a typical operational year after we had completed a significant restructuring: we partner with only professional salons who align with our net zero commitment, and all our contract manufacturing was consolidated to the United Kingdom. This gives us a clean, realistic starting point against which to measure genuine progress.

Emissions Scope 2023 Baseline (tCO₂e)
Scope 1 (natural gas for heating)8.5
Scope 2 (purchased electricity)12.3
Scope 3 (selected sources – see below)45.0
Total baseline emissions65.8

Scope 3 sources we include:

  • Purchased goods and services (raw materials, packaging, wigs, hair products, UK contract manufacturing)
  • Upstream transportation (independent haulage – all our logistics partners now use electric fleets)
  • Business travel (mainly rail for technical oversight visits)
  • Waste generated in our manufacturing operations
  • Downstream transportation (products shipped to distributors and customers)

Because all our fleet vehicles are electric powered and manufacture only within the UK, our baseline emissions are already low for a business of our age and type.

Our Emissions Today (2025 Reporting Year)

We have continued to drive emissions down. In our most recent reporting year (2025), we achieved:

Emissions Scope 2025 Reported (tCO₂e) Reduction from 2023
Scope 17.2↓ 15%
Scope 210.5↓ 15%
Scope 342.0↓ 7%
Total59.7↓ 9.3%

We have already cut our total emissions by 6.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent – a 9.3% reduction – through practical, completed projects (see below).

Our Commitment to Net Zero 2050

We are fully signed up to the UK government's net zero by 2050 target for UK operations. Our director has formally approved this commitment, and it is embedded in our strategic planning.

To ensure transparency, we publish this Carbon Reduction Plan on our website, review it annually. We will also report our progress through the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment each year.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • LED lighting retrofit – Installed LED lighting with motion sensors across all our manufacturing plants and office, saving 1.8 tCO₂e per year (Scope 2).
  • Smart heating controls – Fitted programmable thermostats and zone heating controls, cutting gas use by 1.3 tCO₂e per year (Scope 1).
  • 100% electric‑fleet haulage – Switched all our third‑party logistics to independent haulage partners that run electric fleets, eliminating diesel from goods transport and saving 4.5 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3).
  • Supplier consolidation – Reduced the number of raw material suppliers, prioritising those within 100 miles of our manufacturing plants, saving 2.0 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3).
  • Staff energy awareness training – Delivered mandatory energy‑saving training to all staff, saving 0.5 tCO₂e per year (Scope 2).
  • Waste segregation programme – Increased recycling from 40% to 75% in our manufacturing operations, saving 1.2 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3).

Total saving from completed initiatives: 11.3 tCO₂e per year (a 17.2% reduction against our 2023 baseline).

Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • On‑site solar PV – Install roof‑mounted solar panels at our main manufacturing plant by 2027, generating ~15,000 kWh of renewable electricity per year and saving an estimated 4.0 tCO₂e per year (Scope 2).
  • 100% renewable energy tariff – Switch to a certified green electricity tariff for all our facilities by the end of 2026, saving a further 3.0 tCO₂e per year (Scope 2).
  • Air‑source heat pumps – Replace natural gas boilers with heat pumps at both manufacturing plants by 2028, saving approximately 5.0 tCO₂e per year (Scope 1).
  • Electric vehicle charging points – Install EV chargers at our manufacturing plants by 2027 to encourage staff to switch to electric commuting.
  • Zero‑waste manufacturing – Achieve 95% waste diversion from landfill by 2028 through advanced recycling and composting, saving 1.5 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3).
  • Sustainable packaging – Transition to 100% post‑consumer recycled and home‑compostable packaging by 2026, saving 2.0 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3). We import only recyclable packaging from suppliers that fully align with our carbon reduction and modern slavery standards.
  • Supplier net zero requirements – From 2027, require our top ten suppliers (by spend) to publish their own carbon reduction plans and show year‑on‑year reductions, targeting a 5.0 tCO₂e saving (Scope 3).
  • Remote technical oversight – Increase virtual site visits where physical presence is not essential, reducing business travel emissions by 0.5 tCO₂e per year (Scope 3).

Total expected additional saving from future initiatives: ~22.0 tCO₂e per year – which would bring our total emissions down to approximately 37.7 tCO₂e by 2028 (a 43% reduction from our 2023 baseline).

Our Emissions Reduction Targets (Milestones to 2050)

Target Year Total Emissions Target (tCO₂e) Reduction from 2023 Baseline
203039.041% reduction
204018.073% reduction
20500.0 (residuals offset)100% reduction (net zero)

We will report our progress against these targets every year in our annual Carbon Reduction Plan update.

Partnering with Professional Salons

Today, we do not operate any salon directly. Instead, we partner with a network of professional salons across the UK for all our project work. Those partner salons are independent businesses, but we encourage them to adopt energy‑efficient practices and we share our carbon reduction guidance with them as part of our wider sustainability commitment.

Our Sustainable Packaging Commitment

We take full responsibility for the packaging we bring into the UK. We import only recyclable packaging, and we source it exclusively from companies that align with:

  • Our carbon reduction emissions standards (low‑carbon transport, renewable energy in production)
  • Our modern slavery standards (Supplier Code of Conduct, no forced labour, ethical labour practices)

Every packaging supplier must sign our Supplier Code of Conduct and provide evidence of their own emissions reduction plans before we place an order.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported using the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and the appropriate UK Government conversion factors.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are reported in line with SECR requirements (where applicable), and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions follows the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors of Biodeb Group Ltd.
